Mettaphor – sweet jazzy funk music

Meet Kaeleen and Angalika

Meet Kaeleen and Angalika

Each week the market hosts a different entertainer. Some people come to the market just to listen to the free, live music, have their coffee/ breakfast and catch up with family and friends in a nice shady spot in the middle of the market. Quite a social event.

If you love the saxophone and a bit of jazz you would have loved last Saturday’s gig at Burleigh School Farmers Market. You couldn’t help but get in the groove listening to the jazzy sounds of Angelika Heinrich and Kaeleen Hunter, the duo called Mettaphor. These lovely ladies have travelled the world making a living from creating and performing their music over the last 20 years. Kaeleen, the guitar player and live sound engineer and Angelika the alto and soprano saxophone player are both amazing singers and musicians.

Sharing the vibe

Although their music and performance is fantastic these two women don’t just rest on their laurels, they like to share their knowledge of sound recording, instruments, music and life in general by helping disadvantaged people take control of their lives by running workshops and different projects. Their Live Vibe Music production has won many awards over the years for creating and facilitating these projects and workshops around Australia especially in remote Indigenous communities.

Remote Community Recording Studios, Keep Breathing Asthma NT, Domestic Violence Prevention Centre, Raising our Voices, Magic in Music, Sunny Haven Disability Service, Take Control of Alcohol just to name some projects. I’m sure, they are just as rewarding for them as they are for the participants.

There is so much more to tell you about Kaeleen and Angelika, could write a book really, but read all about them on their website www.mettaphor.com and like their Facebook page www.facebook.com/mettaphor
